Yuletide: OGEPA boss distributes food items to 5,000 households, groups in 3 LGs

The General Manager, Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Hon. (Dr) Kenny Bello, has flagged off the distribution of bags of rice and other essential food items for 5,000 households in Ijebu East/Ijebu North/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

The exercise was part of Hon. Bello’s philanthropic gesture to show love to the beneficiaries, including low-income families, widows, youths, and the elderly as well as community and religious groups during the festive season.

Flagging off the food distribution at his residence in Ijebu-Imusin on Monday, the OGEPA boss said he was excited to identify with the grassroots people during the Yuletide period.

According to him, the food items were aimed at sustaining the beneficiaries through the festive season and also help them alleviate the effects of economic challenges.

Hon. Bello said, “This effort is just one of the ways I can appreciate our people and put a smile on their faces during this period of Christmas and New Year festivities. The distribution will cut across three local government areas of Ijebu East, Ijebu North and Ogun Waterside.”

“I want to assure the people of my utmost commitment to their welfare now and always. They have kept faith with our cause and the state government, and we will not let them down.”

The OGEPA chief executive urged the people to redouble their support for the present administration towards actualising the continuous delivery of democratic dividends.

The event was attended by local leaders, community members, and representatives from various organisations. Beneficiaries of the food distribution expressed their gratitude, noting that the support would go a long way in helping them to spend the festive period in high spirits.

Meanwhile, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijebu East Local Government, on Monday, unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027 as well as Governor Dapo Abiodun for Senate.

The party chieftains, under the leadership of High Chief Segun Osibote, gathered at the Crownbirth Event Centre, Ijebu-Ife and passed a historic vote of confidence in the transformative leadership of both President Tinubu and Governor Abiodun.

Patrick Dare Ogunde and Hon. Timothy Adebowale.

Also in attendance were Hon. Akeem Salami, Hon. Callistos Falujo, Hon. Michael Agbolade, Hon. Bola Badejo, Hon. Boye Kasali, Hon. Tayo Mabeweje, Hon. Adetutu Oyesanya, Hon. Sina Ipaye, Hon. Akinlagun Agoro, Chief Gbenga Adesanya, Pastor Okikiola Fayomi, Hon Faseyi Akindele, Prince Ademola Adenubi, Mr. Badejo Remilekun Felix, among other prominent leaders from across the 11 wards of the local government.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman, Ijebu East Local Government, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde (HACCO), emphasised the significance of the endorsement, saying it was a necessary and strategic step to solidify grassroots support for the party’s national and state leaderships, and to formally align the chapter with the progressive agenda for Nigeria’s future and Ogun East’s development.

The motion for the dual endorsement was moved by Hon. (Dr) Kenny Bello and seconded by High Chief Osibote.

In his remarks, the Local Government APC Party Chairman, Otunba Bayo Balogun, stated that the endorsements reflected the overwhelming wish of the party members and the people of Ijebu East, who have directly benefited from the people-centred policies and programmes of both the President and the Governor.

The event concluded with a firm resolution to commence immediate grassroots mobilisation across all wards in Ijebu East to ensure massive electoral support for the endorsed candidates when the time comes.
