Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, has outlined an ambitious transport infrastructure plan for 2026, with public transportation at its core.

Speaking with journalists in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office, Dairo detailed a series of strategic projects designed to strengthen intra- and inter-state connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and modernise the State’s transport network.

According to him, the State Government is set to develop two new railway stations along the Lagos–Ibadan standard gauge corridor—one in Ijoko and another in Kajola—to enhance passenger movement, support cargo operations and unlock fresh economic opportunities for surrounding communities.

Dairo also announced plans for multi-dimensional modern bus terminals in Abeokuta, to be delivered in partnership with the Federal Government. The terminals, he said, will integrate scattered parks and garages into coordinated hubs, significantly reducing congestion and improving service efficiency for commuters.

The Commissioner further highlighted other flagship projects, including the Gateway International Airport, the Olokola Deep Sea Port, and the Kajola Inland Dry Port. He noted that the airport is already undergoing stabilization works, with accompanying road construction and supporting infrastructure currently in progress.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to infrastructural development, Dairo said the State is determined to complete ongoing projects while initiating new ones that will drive economic expansion and raise the living standards of residents.

He added that the projects under implementation are expected to generate employment, attract investments, and consolidate Ogun State’s emergence as a major transportation and logistics hub in Nigeria.
