The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief (Dr.) Samuel Ogbuku, has dissociated himself from a recent report in the media attributing his rumoured arrest to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri.

In a statement issued by Dr. Willie Etim, Special Assistant on Media to the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Ogbuku condemned in very strong terms the report credited to a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which insinuated a rift between himself and the Governor. He emphasized that there is no rivalry within the APC family in Bayelsa State.

The statement further clarified that any comments or opinions expressed by individuals on political matters in Bayelsa State should be regarded strictly as their personal views, and not as a representation of the thoughts or position of Dr. Ogbuku.

According to the statement, “the attempt to link the Governor to political controversies or rumours of arrest is both misleading, mischievous, and unnecessary.”

Dr. Ogbuku, through his media aide, expressed sincere apologies for any embarrassment the misleading publications may have caused the Governor. He also urged party faithful and members of the public to exercise restraint in public commentary, particularly when such remarks could distort facts or create unnecessary tension.
