The Member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency One in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Werinipre Pamo, has condemned a recent attack on a female member of his constituency by a suspected Fulani herdsman.
Pamoh warned the Hausa community members doing business in the constituency not to take laws into their hands, saying that any untowards act involving attack on law-abiding citizens would not be tolerated.
According to him, he immediately responded to the incident, rushing to the scene in Kaiama to assess the situation.
He thanked the security agencies for their prompt intervention in calming the situation and praised the youths of Kaiama and Orubiri communities for their restraint and willingness to listen to their leaders.
He revealed that he visited the victim in the hospital, provided financial assistance for her care, and promised to cover her hospital bills and encouraged the Hausa community leaders to visit the victim and contribute to her hospital bills, which they agreed to do.
The lawmaker emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence between the Hausa community and the indigenous people of the area, noting that this was the first time such an incident had occurred in the many years the Hausa community had lived in the area.
Hon. Pamoh commended the Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri for his impactful developmental strides that cut across every sector of the economy, noting that the Governor has surpassed the expectations of Bayelsans.
He cited notable projects to include the three senatorial roads, the New Yenagoa City, the news Secretariat complex, stadium as well as health, education, agriculture, women and youth Empowerment and the current peace prevailing in the state.
He stated that within two years as a lawmaker he has embarked on various Constituency projects, education and human empowerment as well as lobbied projects to his Constituency.
He highlighted the projects to include
430km road at Kaiama, 400km road st Odi community, a borehole project in Kaiama in addition to other projects.
The lawmaker assured his that he would continue to prioritize the development of his Constituency by sponsoring bills and influencing more projects and called for prayers amd support to enable him succeed.
