The arrest was made on Sunday at No. 80 School Road, Oku Abak, following credible intelligence received by operatives of the Command.

In a statement made available to Salient Times News on Monday, the Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, DSP Timfon John, disclosed that a human skull and vandalised public electricity infrastructure were recovered from the suspect.

“On July 20, 2025, operatives of the Command arrested a suspected cultist and vandal who specialises in the destruction of feeder transformers and public electric cables within Abak Local Government Area and its environs,” the statement read.

“At approximately 6:55 PM, police operatives acting on actionable intelligence proceeded to No. 80 School Road by Oku Abak and apprehended one Pius Pius, a 40-year-old male,” she said.

According to DSP John, during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Iceland Confraternity, a group allegedly responsible for the destruction of critical public infrastructure.

A search of his residence led to the recovery of one human skull, a transformer step-down insulator, a circuit breaker, an electric meter, and several fuses.

The police spokesperson assured that investigation into the case is ongoing and further developments will be communicated to the public as they unfold.
