Victor Ikpeba, a former Nigerian international and member of the NFF Technical Committee, has called on his fellow ex-internationals to support Eric Chelle in his role as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
In a discussion on Brila FM, Ikpeba expressed concern over the lack of backing from former players for previous coaches, especially during conflicts involving players.
He emphasized the need for unity among past players, stating, “Let us rally around the manager and players.
If we win the two games in March, we are back in contention for the World Cup.”
Ikpeba also pointed out the silence of many former internationals during controversies that arose when Finidi George was head coach, questioning their absence of support at that time.
He concluded by reinforcing the importance of backing Eric Chelle, saying, “This is not about the manager.
He is what we have now and we will support him.”
