Ebonyi State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has called on Nigerians to keep faith with the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu as he has set mechanisms to take the country to her desired destination.

Governor Nwifuru made the call Sunday during the Thanksgiving Holy Mass held in Government House, Abakaliki as part of activities marking the 2024 Independence Anniversary.

He stated that the removal of fuel subsidy by President Tinubu-led Government is a well thought out policy which should be commended by all.

He asserted that prior to the end of the subsidy regime, marketers had held the country to ransom to a point they dictate what happens in the country even to the deteriment of the vast majority.

“Many don’t know it is actually in the interest of Mr President to chose who will be importing fuel if subsidy is not removed. Mr President is the person suffering most in the fuel subsidy.

“If Mr President had allowed these marketers continue to do what they were doing, this country would not get to this level infrastructurally.

“This decision made by Mr President is timely.”

The Governor was optimistic that the hardship occasioned by the subsidy removal is temporary

“Believe me in less than 6 months from now, fuel will be cheaper than what we have now”.

He reiterated his determination to run all inclusive governance in the state to ensure the temporary effects of subsidy removal is not felt.

“My wish is to make sure everybody is comfortable because we are equal before God Almighty”.

The Governor praised the founding fathers for their roles which culminated in the creation of the State 28 years ago and disclosed the Government’s intention to appreciate them on October 1.

The Governor solicited the supports and prayers of the people in the task of piloting the affairs of the State.

“Nobody is perfect, as Leaders we need your prayers at all times. It is better to pray for leaders to translate their visions into reality instead of gossiping them because no one is perfect”
