There is fear and apprehension in Amaeze community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State following the tragic d@ath of a family of four.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, September 1, 2024, has plunged the entire community into deep mourning.

The victims, including a woman, her daughter, mother and sister, d!ed in their sleep.

The exact cause of the deaths remains unknown however, some residents on Facebook claimed it was a case of food poisoning.

It was gathered that the four victims had shared a meal the previous night before going to bed.

The traditional ruler of the community, HRH Igwe Felix Ugwu, confirmed the tragic incident on Monday.

According to the monarch, one of the victims, identified as Mama Chijioke Amaeze, had brought her ailing mother into her home and had been caring for her before the mysterious incident claimed the lives of her mom, her sister, and her daughter

The monarch said that although officers from the Nsukka Police Division have taken the victims to the hospital for autopsy and investigation, the community has decided to go spiritual to uncover the cause of the incident.

“My community has been restless since this incident happened. We have not witnessed anything like this since the history of this community. We are making efforts to determine what could have led to this tragedy,” Ugwu added
