The spiritual gathering, held as part of activities during the holy month of Ramadan, featured Qur’anic recitations, prayers and reflections by Islamic scholars, with participants offering supplications for the repose of the soul of the deceased patriarch.

Delivering the keynote lecture titled “Reliance on God,” Sheikh Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Salaudeen urged Muslims to place total trust in Allah in all aspects of life, stressing that sincere reliance on God guarantees honour and guidance.

He explained that patience and steadfast faith were essential virtues for believers, adding that Muslims should remain hopeful and trust in Allah’s timing when seeking blessings or solutions to life’s challenges.

Quoting from the Holy Qur’an, the cleric described reliance on God as a fundamental principle in Islam and encouraged adherents to cultivate the value in their daily conduct.

Sheikh Salaudeen also paid tribute to the late Alhaji Soliu Noibi Bakre, describing him as a respected Islamic figure in Ago-Iwoye whose values and service to the community continue to inspire many.

He commended the Bakre family for preserving their father’s legacy through the annual Ramadan lecture and urged them to continue upholding the good name he left behind.

The Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, who was represented at the event, lauded Dr. Femi Bakre and his siblings for organising the lecture and sustaining the memory of their father.

The monarch described the late Alhaji Bakre as one of the prominent Islamic leaders in the town during his lifetime and prayed for continued unity and progress within the family.

He also called on Islamic clerics in the community to avoid bitterness, promote peaceful coexistence and continue to offer prayers for the peace, development and prosperity of Ago-Iwoye.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Parallex Bank, Dr. Olufemi Nojeemdeen Bakre, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the life and legacy of their father.

He described the late patriarch as a man of humility, service and deep commitment to both family and community.

According to him, the Ramadan lecture serves as both a remembrance of their father and a prayerful appeal to Allah for mercy, forgiveness and the granting of Aljanah Firdaus for the deceased.

Dr. Bakre also noted that their father laid a strong foundation of Islamic education for his children and urged Muslim parents to ensure their children acquire sound Islamic knowledge alongside Western education.

Clerics at the gathering encouraged Muslims to maximise the remaining days of Ramadan through devotion, charity and prayers for peace and unity in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State and Nigeria.

The event ended with special prayers for the Bakre family and the community, as participants reflected on the enduring impact of the late Alhaji Soliu Noibi Bakre.
