The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Inspector Nura Ahmad, who is accused of killing Ahmad Ibrahim
It had had earlier been reported that a trigger-happy Police officer shot a 20-year-old man on Wednesday due to an argument about money.
Confirming the tragic occurrence, the command’s spokesman, SP Nafiu Abubakar, said the suspect was an officer assigned to CTU Base 18 Zamfara State.
He stated that the suspect was on stop-and-search duty at the Zamare/Yauri route when he got into a dispute with the deceased.
“As a result, the said Police Inspector shot Ahmad Ibrahim in his chest and he was immediately rushed to General Hospital Yauri, for treatment, where a medical Doctor confirmed him dead.
“In view of the ugly incident, Inspector Nura Ahmad has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Birnin Kebbi, for a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the unprofessional conduct of the Police Inspector”, the statement reads.
The command also informed members of the public that justice would be served in the investigation of the heinous occurrence, emphasizing that the findings would be made accessible in due course.
