There was a slight drama at the Magistrate Court, Yaba, Lagos on Tuesday, 2nd of April, 2024 as the Nigeria Police arraigned one Adedeji Adegboyega Samuel for activities relating to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT).

The suspect who arrived the court premises in the company of police officers was looking troubled.

In the charge sheet read by the court clerk, Adedeji was accused of having a romantic relationship with a fellow man when he was caught by local securities which is in contravention of the Nigerian Criminal Code: Section 214 also known as same sex act 2014.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge as his legal representative applied for his bail on a very light conditions.

The lawyer representing the suspect had claimed that his client had health issues and had pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy over the bail condition.

In his bail ruling, Magistrate Adekunle admitted the accused to bail in the sum of 5 Million Naira with two sureties in like sum, also adjourned the case to the 25th of May 2024.

While the accused was being led away to the waiting black Maria, pending the perfection of his bail conditions a random man came from nowhere and dealt fierce punch on the accused and started reciting the Quran.

In a twist of event, the correctional officers taking the accused person away held the random man and placed him under custody.

The random man afterwards claimed to be an Islamic Scholar claiming that the Holy Quran gave directives to wipe away infidels from the surface of earth.

The presiding Magistrate then ordered that the random man who refused to give his name be remanded in the correctional facility in Ikoyi and should be presented on the 7th of May to face proper charges.
