May Day: Gov Alia Assures Of Commitment To Workers Welfare

Governor of Benue State Rev.Fr Hyacinth Alia said his administration commitment included to ensure welfare of workers and ensuring pensions and salaries are paid as when due towards boosting the morale of civil servants in the State.

Governor Alia who gave the assurance of his readiness to implement new minimum wage anytime the need arises, said during this year’s May Day celebration in Makurdi noting the immense contributions by workers towards ensuring development emphasising if not for workers it couldn’t have been possible to attained the feat.

Beside aligning himself with the theme of year 2024 Labour Day, which focuses on “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” Governor Alia says, his administration is already working in line with the theme, having renovated the State Secretariat and also provided a dedicated 33KVA transformer to enable the workers have a healthy and conducive environment to operate.

The Governor also said that aside the prompt payment of workers salaries, his administration will continue to pay owed arrears, attend to issues of promotions and allowances, ensure training and retraining of the workers, saying issues of workers in the state generally, will always be of prime concern in his government.

He charges the workers to always imbibe the culture of transparency, compassion, accountability and sincerity.

He urges them to continue to support his efforts by delivering in their assigned roles as workers of the state, and to also remain apolitical at all times.

While speaking with Journalists shortly after the celebration emphasised priorities of payment of workers salaries and pensions is paramount under his watch.

Besides these boosting of agricultural because were food basket of the Nation imploring workers and youths should engage in Cooperative society to receive grants and embarked into farming season.

” After the yields is harvested returned to us we purchased in large quantities insisting the purpose is to encourage participation in agriculture for all and sundry “
