Akwa Ibom State Police Command has commenced an investigation to uncover those responsible for the disposal of a deceased human body in Uyo metropolis.

Salient Times reports that residents of Ekpri Nsukara in Uyo woke up on Monday morning to a gruesome sight—a lady’s body severed from the trunk and discarded near the gate of Boys Primary School, Anua, Uyo, the state capital.

The body, reportedly dismembered with the head and body removed, leaving only the legs, was found concealed in a ‘Ghana – Must – Go’ bag by the assailants.

Mr Emmanuel Ekong, a resident of the area and a student at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, informed journalists that the discovery was made early Monday morning.

“We woke up this early Monday morning to discover the trunk of a young lady inside a ‘Ghana – Must – Go’ bag, chopped off from the waist, with the other part of the body from the waist to the head taken away by her killers. So, we can’t really identify whether she’s our fellow student, maybe later,” Ekong noted.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter.

“We have received that report; it’s just an unfortunate act, a dastardly one at that. It’s unfortunate that some people have no value for life; they can resort to a barbaric act at any given time. We are no longer living in the Stone Age. How can a fellow human being treat his fellow human being that way? The Police Command will spare no resources to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.

“The Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, is miffed at the report, and he has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident,” Macdon said.

He urged the people of Akwa Ibom State to provide information that could assist the police in tracking down the perpetrators of the crime
