The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East), Barr. Mrs Chioma Nweze has recently visited to office of NASENI and SMEDAN for an optimistic economic journey for the people of South East by being a potent instrument for empowering the region’s most significant asset – its people.

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is an intervention agency of the Federal Government under the Presidency whose mandate include championing home initiated and home sustained industrialization for Nigeria. The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) on the other hand has over the years led impactful initiatives resulting in creation of jobs and funding and facilitating support for SMEs. The latter has secured over N7 billion for small and medium businesses and as well created 15,000 jobs across Nigeria.

According to SSA, the visit to the MDAs among other things on Tuesday, January 23rd 2024, has reactivated the hunt for young companies and small businesses, cooperatives and talents to finance in South East.

She further said the meeting resolved that exceptional talents be sought and sent to NASENI for training, while companies can go into public private partnership with them to finance local content, cooperatives are to be formed and sent to SMEDAN for sponsorship and partnership, in all South Eastern states.

“The visit epitomizes synergistic efforts boldly targeted at entrepreneurship and eliminating the hurdles startups face in obtaining initial funding”.

“The office of the SSA to the President under an economic savvy pilot, Barr. Chioma Nweze is laying a robust foundation for economic affluence and societal advancement. By cultivating an entrepreneurial ethos, South East can unlock the latent potential of its young population, motivating them to transition from job seekers to job innovators.”

“However, this stands as a testament to potential and hope. With access to finance, tailored training programmes, and mentorship, business owners in the zone seeking outlets such as this, can now grow successful businesses. This means the birth of a new generation of innovative and resilient entrepreneurs who will drive South East’s economic transformation.”

Meanwhile, the office of the Special Assistant to the President on Community Development has been relentless in its efforts to better the lots of South East and nurture the zone to all around human and economic development. It has also successfully connected with all the governors of the South East, with a regional office in the pipeline, towards harnessing the peculiar demands of states in the zone in its broad blueprint.
