Oba Olugbenle also thanked the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, for supporting the nomination of Dr Salako, whom he described as an illustrious son of Yewaland and Ogun West Senatorial District who has served Ogun State meritoriously.

Oba Olugbenle in a statement made available to our correspondent by  Prince Femi Dokunmu, Media Consultant to the Paramount Ruler. said both President Tinubu and Governor Abiodun deserve the commendation of the Obas and people of Yewaland who have not produced a Minister from the State since 1994 when Senator Iyabo Anisulowo served under the Sanni Abacha Military Regime as Minister of State for Education.

“This is the first time since the return of Nigeria to Democratic Rule in 1999 that Yewa Division of Ogun State and indeed Ogun West will produce a Minister’, adding that, ‘this is why our people shall continue to appreciate President Tinubu for this gesture and the recognition he has given to us as a people”, Oba Olugbenle said.

“Many of our Obas, Elites and opinion leaders across the State have called to congratulate me that this joyful development is coming in their lifetime and during my reign as the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland”, he said.

Oba Olugbenle who could not hide his joy said the people of Yewaland and Ogun West are also grateful to Governor Dapo Abiodun for supporting the nomination in clear recognition of the outstanding contribution of Dr Salako and the support Yewa people gave to the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the last Presidential and Governorship elections in the State.

“Our people will also continue to appreciate the Governor for returning two of our sons, Jagunmolu Jamiu Omoniyi and Olaoluwa Olabimtan as Commissioners, noting that, ‘this is a clear demonstration of the confidence which Governor Abiodun has reposed in the duo”, he said.

Dr Iziak Salako who hails from Ayetoro-Yewa is a former Commissioner for Agriculture, Housing and Health between 2007 and 2011 and was Chairman of, the Ogun State Health Management Board during the first term of Governor Dapo Abiodun. He was one of the Polling Agents of Senator Bola Tinubu at the APC Presidential Primaries and Deputy Director General of the Dapo Abiodun/Tinubu Campaign Organization in Ogun State.
