Procurement Officers in the Ogun State Civil Service have been admonished to continue to push for service excellence, support the government in actualising its policies and curtail wastages as well as block leakages while discharging their statutory duties.

The Head of Service, Mr Kolawole Fagbohun, gave the admonition when he received in audience the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN) led by its National President, Alhaji Sikiru Balogun in his office.

According to him, the ultimate goal is not just to have a cadre but to discharge creditably the duties and responsibilities attached to the cadre for such to be sustained, advising that the officers should continue to add value so that there can be justification for its establishment.

In a press statement issued by Omolara Osindele, Office of the Head of Service, said the HoS urged them to continually expand the frontiers of excellence in service, strive not to disappoint the National Body and themselves, as well as tap into the opportunity of rising to the pinnacle of their career as created by the present administration for all workers, by distinguishing themselves at their duty posts.

“Cadres are not just created to further professional interest but to render quality service to help Government achieve its aims and objectives. I want to enjoin all officers to continually expand the frontiers of excellence in service for better delivery”, the HoS charged.

Earlier in his submission, the President, of CIPSMN, Alhaji Sikiru Balogun said the National Body was in the State to felicitate the Head of Service on his appointment, to laud the State Government for what it is doing in the Bureau of Public Procurement via its Director General, Dr. Adesina Olanloye, and to solicit more support for the cadre and the Bureau in the State, as it is a cadre meant for trained and knowledgeable personnel.

Adding his voice, the North Central Coordinator of the Institute, Alhaji Abdul Mamman, commended the Ogun State Government for understanding the principle of procurement as it has come to stay in the State and asked for it to be well-funded as the gatekeepers of the State so that the Officers will not compromise standard and values.
