Administrative Officers in the Ogun State Civil Service have been called upon to develop themselves and be versatile, in order to be positioned in adding value to their Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun who made the call during a meeting with the Administrative Officers from Grade Level 13 and above, held at the Obas’ Conference Hall, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta, asked them to make punctuality their watchword, always show commitment and be ready to proffer solution to problems in their agencies.

Press Officer, Office of the HoS, said the Number One Civil Servant in the State also advised them to stop unhealthy rivalry among themselves, saying ” If we don’t forgive those who offended us, there would be no way forward. What will people say about you when you are no more occupying the position? Add value, you should know a bit of everything, show commitment and be loyal to your boss”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Morakinyo Ojo, said the meeting was strategic, to identify problems in the service and chart the way forward, calling on participants to feel free to express their feelings.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, asked them to speak up and voice out whatever the issue bothering their minds, calling on them to lead by example by putting up positive attitudes in any agency they find themselves.

In his remark, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Oyejola Oyeneye, admonished them to always dress well and maintain a clean environment at all times.

Also speaking, the Coordinator, Administrative Officers’ Group, Mrs. Roseline Jacob, charged the Officers to follow all official codes, and added that ladies should stop showing off their body parts, while wearing of Jeans are not allowed in the Service for both males and females.

Many issues affecting the service were raised such as recruitment of cleaners, pension and life after retirement, writing minute of meetings, dressing allowance, mentorship, loyalty, punctuality among others.

Speaking on behalf of the officers, the Director of Admin and Supplies, Ministry of Environment, Mrs. Taiwo Adebiyi, appreciated the Head of Service for giving them free will to express their feelings, and promised to continue supporting the Head of Service to achieve goals set to take Ogun Civil Service to the promised land.
