The Ogun State chapter of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has faulted the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the United Kingdom, describing the trip as a sign of insensitivity to the economic hardship currently faced by Nigerians.

The state chairman of the party, Hon. Olujobi Fayoyin, made this known in a statement made available to journalists, where he criticized the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he described as a failure to fulfill its campaign promises.

Fayoyin argued that the economic policies of the APC-led administration have worsened the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians, with many citizens struggling under rising costs of living.

According to him, embarking on foreign trips at a time when citizens are grappling with severe economic challenges sends the wrong signal about the government’s priorities.

“The present administration of the APC has not lived up to the expectations of Nigerians. At a time when citizens are grappling with economic hardship, embarking on foreign trips portrays insensitivity to the plight of the people,” Fayoyin stated.

He further noted that the UK visit contradicts ongoing calls for public officials to cut down on what he described as wasteful government spending, urging leaders to demonstrate greater prudence and empathy.

Fayoyin said Nigerians had expected the government to focus on policies and actions that would directly ease the burden on citizens rather than engage in activities perceived as unnecessary expenditure.

The NRM chairman also called on Nigerians to begin mobilizing ahead of the next general elections by supporting alternative political platforms capable of delivering better governance.

He urged voters to reject the APC at the polls, expressing confidence that the NRM represents a credible alternative that can reposition the country and restore hope among citizens.

Fayoyin appealed to residents of Ogun State and Nigerians nationwide to remain politically conscious and actively participate in the democratic process to ensure a better future for the country.
