Abeokuta, Ogun State – March 15, 2026
A middle-aged woman, Jolayemi Abosede Alake, was reportedly killed, while her husband, Jolayemi Adeyinka Abraham, and their house help were injured during a violent clash that erupted at their residence in Idiroko, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to residents, tensions in the community had been escalating over alleged concerns regarding the personal lifestyle of the couple’s daughter, Olabiyi Oluwatoyin Hannah, as well as the recent death of her partner, Lawal Adeola Bola, who reportedly passed away on March 4, 2026. Social media posts and politically related content circulating within the community were also said to have contributed to the growing unrest.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of youths gathered near the couple’s residence late in the evening, which led to a confrontation that quickly turned violent. During the clash, stones and sticks were reportedly used, leaving several people seriously injured.
Jolayemi Abosede Alake sustained critical injuries during the attack and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Her body has since been deposited at Ikolaje Mortuary in Idiroko.
Her husband, Jolayemi Adeyinka Abraham, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a medical facility where he is currently receiving treatment.
The family’s house help, Arikawe Patricia Omowumi, was also reportedly injured during the incident and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
Residents described the incident as “shocking” and expressed concerns that the violence could escalate further. Several community members declined to speak on record due to safety concerns.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident. Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and allow the investigative process to proceed without interference.
