In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, a prominent member of the support group of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Hon. Wale Sowole, has distributed food items and cash gifts to no fewer than 500 Muslim faithful across several mosques in Abeokuta.

The outreach programme, which was aimed at providing relief to Muslims observing the fasting period, was carried out in selected worship centres within Ogun Central Senatorial District.

The distribution exercise began at Ita Baki Mosque in Elega and continued to Fadama Central Mosque in Bode Olude.

The team also visited Akorede Central Mosque in Saje, Imale Nfe Alafia Mosque in Oke Saje and Istijaba Mosque in Fadama where food packages and cash support were given to worshippers.

Speaking during the exercise, the leader of the group, Hon. Sowole Olawale, popularly known as Wale Yayi, said the initiative was designed to complement the people-oriented programmes of Senator Adeola, widely known as Yayi.

He explained that the decision to reach out to Muslims during Ramadan was intentional, noting that the group hopes to receive prayers and spiritual support for the senator’s political aspirations.

“We want you to utilize this holy month of Ramadan to pray for Senator Yayi’s governorship ambition. Believe me, if this wish is granted, you are all going to enjoy the real dividends of democracy,” he said.

Sowole further disclosed that beyond the distribution of food and cash gifts, the group has several empowerment initiatives lined up to improve the welfare of residents across Ogun State.

“Our assurance to the people is that we will do our best to eradicate poverty through empowerment,” he said.

“As many have witnessed across the state, Yayi has already done much and is ready to do even more for the betterment of Ogun State,” he added.

The exercise was greeted with appreciation at the various mosques visited, as beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture and offered prayers for the success of Senator Adeola’s political journey.

Many of the recipients described the intervention as timely, especially during the sacred period of Ramadan, noting that the support would help ease the burden of fasting for many families.
