In a move to strengthen his administration, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in five new commissioners to join the State Executive Council.

The ceremony took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The new commissioners are Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Prof. Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.

Addressing the new appointees, Governor Fubara charged them to view their new roles as a call to service, emphasising the need for dedication, transparency, and loyalty in advancing the administration’s development agenda for the state.

He reminded them that the expectations of the people of Rivers remain high and urged them to leverage their wealth of experience to implement policies and programmes that would positively impact citizens across the state.

The Governor noted that the new commissioners emerged from what he described as one of the most rigorous screening exercises ever conducted by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He stated that the screening process had already demonstrated their readiness and competence for the responsibilities ahead.

“My comment will be to charge you on what you are supposed to do and how you are supposed to operate, but I think that aspect has already been taken care of by the House of Assembly. I believe that going through one of the most rigorous screenings, it is enough to say that for those of you who succeeded, you are fit and ready to deliver to our dear state.“
