Dr. Ajoke Pero Sofowora, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Boltek Systems Limited, has paid glowing tribute to her longtime friend and sister, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, as she marked her 61st birthday with the public presentation of her book and the launch of the Olowo Oloye Foundation.

Sofowora described Madein as a woman of exceptional character whose life has been defined by service, integrity, and a deep commitment to uplifting others.

In a heartfelt message celebrating the milestone, Sofowora said Madein’s life journey represents a powerful example of purposeful leadership and compassion.

She recalled that their friendship began in 1965 when they met as young girls growing up in the same community, noting that their shared upbringing laid the foundation for a lifelong bond.

According to her, their relationship grew stronger through the years as they attended Christ Apostolic Grammar School together and shared common aspirations.

“When she later married my cousin, it simply confirmed what we already knew in our hearts that we were family in every sense of the word,” Sofowora said.

She noted that their friendship, fondly expressed in the phrase “Yer’omomi,” has been sustained by mutual support, encouragement and loyalty over several decades.

Sofowora also acknowledged the vital role Madein played during her doctoral journey, describing her as a steady source of encouragement during challenging moments.

“When I was completing my doctorate programme and the weight felt heavy, she stood beside me, not with noise but with quiet assurance. She believed in me even on days I doubted myself,” she said.

“That is who she is — a lifter, a builder and a woman who pours into others without keeping score,” Sofowora added.

Beyond their personal relationship, Sofowora praised Madein’s professional accomplishments and national service, describing her as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s public financial management system.

She noted that Madein made history as Nigeria’s first female Accountant-General of the Federation, serving the nation with dignity, transparency and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

According to her, Madein’s leadership style demonstrated that true leadership is defined not by loudness but by values, consistency and impact.

While acknowledging her distinguished career in public service, Sofowora said what inspires her most about Madein is her compassionate spirit and commitment to humanitarian causes.

She highlighted Madein’s dedication to supporting widows, empowering the girl-child and strengthening communities.

Sofowora also commended her for maintaining enduring friendships and relationships built on trust and shared values.

As Madein celebrates her 61st birthday and one year after her retirement from public service, Sofowora said the launch of the Olowo Oloye Foundation marks the beginning of a new phase of social impact.

“The launch of the Olowo Oloye Foundation is proof that purpose does not retire, it expands,” she said.

Sofowora, who also serves as Chairman of the Planning Committee for the celebration, congratulated Madein on the public presentation of her book titled Beyond the Ledger: A Journey in Public Finance and Governance.

She described the book as an important contribution to the discourse on governance, financial management and leadership in the public sector.

According to her, the publication offers valuable professional insight and shares lessons drawn from Madein’s years of experience shaping public financial systems and mentoring future leaders.
Offering prayers for her friend, Sofowora wished Madein continued peace, joy and a legacy that will inspire generations.

“May your days be filled with peace. May your home overflow with joy. May your legacy outlive you in generations you may never meet,” she prayed.

She concluded by expressing appreciation for their decades-long friendship.

“Thank you for loving me. Thank you for standing by me. Thank you for being you.

Congratulations, my sister. The world is better because you were born,” Sofowora said.

The celebration of Madein’s 61st birthday, book presentation and foundation launch has been described by family members, associates and well-wishers as a remarkable tribute to a life dedicated to excellence, service and humanity.
