In a letter addressed to the Chairman of Ebute Igbooro Ward, SDP, Akinosi cited his experience and exposure gained during his tenure as the reason for his resignation. He expressed gratitude to the party leadership, led by Otunba (Dr) Olayinka Ola-Williams, for the cooperation and support received during his time in office.

“I served as Ogun West Senatorial Chairman of the party with honour and dedication, and I am grateful for the invaluable experience and exposure I gained,” Akinosi said in the letter.

Akinosi thanked the party leadership and members for welcoming him and wished the SDP continued growth and success in its efforts towards democratic development and good governance.
