A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Tunde Lemo, has extended warm greetings to Muslim and Christian faithful in Ogun State as they commence their respective sacred fasting seasons, urging them to embrace peace, reflection, and spiritual renewal.

Lemo, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant from Ogun Central, described the fasting periods as significant moments of devotion marked by prayer, sacrifice, compassion, and strengthened commitment to faith.

In a goodwill message released to commemorate the season, the renowned economist and banker emphasized the importance of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence, especially as both fasting periods coincide this year.

He noted that the overlap presents a unique opportunity for adherents of both religions to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen interfaith relationships, and reinforce the values that bind communities together.

Lemo reaffirmed his personal commitment to identifying with both Muslim and Christian communities throughout the fasting period, stressing that unity remains essential for sustainable social and economic development.

According to him, the season represents a period for individuals and communities to recommit themselves to virtues such as love, charity, humility, and service to humanity.

“Ramadan and the Lenten season are times of deep reflection, sacrifice, and unity,” he said, adding that the lessons learned during the period should extend beyond the fasting season into everyday life.

He further stressed the need for citizens to remain hopeful and committed to building a prosperous nation anchored on shared moral values and collective responsibility.

Lemo also called on religious leaders to continue promoting messages of peace, tolerance, and national unity across congregations and communities.

The governorship aspirant urged faithful to use the period to pray for peace, stability, and continued progress of the country.

He reiterated the importance of citizens supporting policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening national cohesion and economic growth.

Lemo assured that he would continue to promote policies and programmes that foster peaceful coexistence and communal harmony if given the opportunity to serve.

He concluded by wishing all Muslim and Christian faithful a spiritually fulfilling fasting season, praying that their sacrifices, prayers, and acts of kindness would contribute to a more peaceful and united society.
