Kemisola Apesin, the Nigerian actress better known as Kemity, has dismissed allegations that she traded sexual favours to secure movie roles.

The rumour surfaced after social media buzzed with renewed tension between actor Austine Emmanuel and his longtime rival, Ibrahim ‘Itele’ Yekini.

As users took sides, a user dragged Kemity into the fray, claiming she was romantically involved with Itele. The same individual further alleged knowledge of past sexual transactions by the actress.

In response, Kemity took to Instagram with a lengthy Throwback Thursday post to set the record straight.

She insisted that her rise in Nollywood has been earned through hard work, consistency, and talent — not bedroom deals.

She revealed that long before she became a recognised face in the industry, she was already financially independent. According to her, she owned two wine shops and worked as a receptionist at Masters Hotel, Ayobo, Lagos.

“I have never used my body to collect a movie role. I have never slept with anyone to get featured in any film. I have never exchanged sex for opportunity,” she wrote.

“Before I even met my boss, I already had two wine shops where I was selling wine. I worked as a receptionist at Masters Hotel, Ayobo.”

The actress also reflected on her career trajectory, which saw her move from acting to makeup artistry before returning to the screen. That shift, she explained, was informed by the financial demands of film production.

“From acting, to makeup, and back to acting my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me,” she wrote.

Kemity, a mother of two daughters, said she is deliberate about the legacy she is leaving behind. She also emphasised her upbringing, describing herself as “a child of a churchwoman,” and stressed that her name remains unsullied.
