Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday led a Federal Government delegation to Kwara State to commiserate with residents of Nuku and Woro communities in Kaiama Local Government Area following recent terrorist attacks that claimed several lives.

During the visit, the Vice President reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s resolve to restore peace and stability to the affected areas, assuring residents that decisive security measures had already been taken.

He disclosed that a battalion of the Nigerian Army had been deployed to Kaiama as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate insecurity across the state.

“We are here at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commiserate with you and the good people of Kaiama and Kwara State over the tragedy that befell our communities of Woro and Nuku,” Shettima said, describing the February 3, 2026 attack as shocking.

“Please accept our heartfelt condolences on behalf of President Tinubu. A battalion of the Nigerian Army has been deployed, and all hands are on deck to restore peace and tranquillity,” the Vice President assured.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commended the swift response of the Federal Government, noting that security personnel were already on the ground.

He confirmed that “Operation Savannah Shield is in motion” and called on Nigerians to continue praying for improved security nationwide.

Also speaking, Borno State Governor and Chairman of the North East Governors Forum, Babagana Umara Zulum, extended condolences to the victims’ families and expressed optimism that such attacks would not recur.

Local authorities, including the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, Abdullahi Abubakar Danladi, and the Emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Mu’azu Shehu Omar, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their prompt intervention and the deployment of security operatives
