Additional 92 indigenes of Ebonyi state scholarships beneficiaries on Monday were airlifted to United Kingdom in pursuance of their post graduate studies oversea.

This marked the second historical event which was reactivated under the present administration of governor Francis Nwifuru’e led administration.

The event took place at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area of the state.

Earlier in 2025, 285 beneficiaries of the scholarships were airlifted to study in Europe.

Many among the first set who went for master degrees have finished their studies but proceeded to have their doctors degree certifications under the instance of the state governor.

Addressing the 92 beneficiaries, the state governor charged them to live up to the moral philosophy behind the award of the scholarship established in 1999.

He said the need for discipline and decorum was to make the state proud when the return to reinvest what they learnt aboard in Ebonyi.

Nwifuru further warned them not to betray the trust the state has on them.

“I am sure you are aware that Ebonyians are not loafers but hard worker which should be your constant companion over there,adding that the money the state is spending remains the collective efforts and sacrifice ot Ebonyians

“Remember that every naira spent on this scholarship is the collective sacrifice of our people, farmers, traders, civil servants, and artisans who believe that your success will one day translate into a stronger, more prosperous Ebonyi State.

“Please, do not betray that trust. Make every lecture, every assignment, and every opportunity count.

“Politics, governance, and history will judge us not by the number of speeches we made, but by the lives we changed. We thank God Almighty He has Graciously allowed us to make that change.

“When you return home equipped with knowledge, skills, and global exposure, you will become pillars upon which the future of Ebonyi State will stand”, he said.

He expressed optimism that the beneficiaries will help to build better institutions, strengthen the State’s economy, and compete in this present global economy challenges.

Ebonyi oversea scholarship, designed for indigenes of the state was initiated by Dr. Sam Egwu’s led leadership and was maintained during Chief Martin Elechi’s government but suffered a set back in the immediate past administration.
