A major political alignment has taken shape in Ogun State as the Obidient Movement formally entered a strategic alliance with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), barely hours after the public declaration by Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
The coalition was concluded during a closed-door meeting in Abeokuta, where delegates from both blocs held what participants described as “robust, structured and purposeful discussions.”
Analysts describe the swift development as one that could alter the balance of political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting was led by the Ogun State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Hon. Olubowale A.S. Obaloluwa, popularly known as Arewa, while the ADC delegation included the South-West Zonal Chairman, Hon. Eyiowuawi; the Ogun State Chairman, Otunba Dr. Olufemi Soluade; State Secretary, Hon. Olusoji; and other senior stakeholders including Dr. Tunde Soaga.
Speaking after the meeting, ADC State Chairman, Dr. Soluade, praised what he called the “clarity and discipline” behind the movement’s decision.
“This is not a courtesy visit; it is a strategic engagement. Our discussions addressed structure, philosophy and pathway to 2027. The Obidient Movement has shown exceptional readiness. We are not merely integrating members; we are merging missions,” he stated.
South-West Zonal Chairman, Hon. Eyiowuawi, described the alliance as a model for modern party cooperation, noting that the decision reflects discipline and strategic timing.
“Today’s alliance is deliberate. The movement waited for direction, then acted with precision. We have now laid a framework grounded in trust and shared purpose,” he said.
From the Obidient Movement’s side, Hon. Obaloluwa Arewa confirmed that the coalition will prioritise candidates with capacity, competence and character.
“This is about action. We are committed to supporting leadership that is credible and accountable. Ogun State is ready to lead that action,” he affirmed.
The Movement’s Secretary, Kareem Owolabi, added that the partnership aims to channel popular support into tangible electoral performance.
“This is a partnership of equals. We are focused on outcomes, not just symbolism,” he noted.
Another delegate, Coach Fagbemi, emphasised a data-driven campaign architecture, promising grassroots mobilization district by district, while Comrade Unique Adebayo projected heightened voter education and participation through media and community networks.
“Our people are ready for a new dawn. The task now is to convert that energy into results,” Adebayo declared.
Political observers say the alliance blends the ADC’s formal structures with the Obidient Movement’s youth-driven voter base, creating a bloc that could influence electoral momentum in Ogun State ahead of 2027.
