Former presidential candidate and frontline politician, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has urged Nigerians to embrace the values of love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as Christians across the country mark the 2025 Christmas celebration.

In a Christmas goodwill message issued by his Media Office in Abuja on Tuesday, Olawepo-Hashim felicitated with Christians and the general Nigerian populace, describing Christmas as a season that embodies peace, hope, joy, sacrifice and goodwill—virtues he said are critically needed at a time of national challenges.

He called on citizens to draw inspiration from the teachings and supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ by showing love to one another, extending kindness to the less privileged and promoting harmony across religious, ethnic and political lines.

“I celebrate with the Christian faithful and urge all Nigerians to remember the true essence of Christmas. In the spirit of the season, we must show love to our neighbours, extend compassion to the vulnerable, and demonstrate tolerance across faiths, politics and ethnicity,” he said.

According to Olawepo-Hashim, Nigeria’s progress and stability depend largely on the ability of its people to live together in peace, stressing that religious tolerance and mutual respect remain vital to national unity.

He further encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope but to draw strength from the message of Christmas, renewing their trust in God’s power to restore the nation’s lost glory.

“As we observe Christmas this year, let us reflect deeply on the core message of Christ’s ministry and genuinely begin to love our fellow Nigerians as we love ourselves,” Olawepo-Hashim added.
