Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, witnessed a historic convergence of scholarship and spirituality as it conducted its 19th Matriculation Ceremony alongside a colourful Christmas Carol service, formally admitting 3,656 fresh students into its academic community.
Both events, held at the Convocation Arena of the Imota Main Campus, created a rare blend of academic solemnity and festive celebration, reflecting the university’s philosophy of holistic education anchored on intellectual excellence, character formation and faith-based values.
Welcoming the new students, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, described matriculation as more than a routine academic ritual, stressing that it represents a solemn covenant that inducts students into Caleb University’s culture of discipline, integrity and excellence.
“Matriculation at Caleb University is a defining rite of passage. It signifies our commitment to producing graduates who are globally competitive, morally grounded and socially responsible,” Prof. Asikhia said.
He urged the matriculants to embrace diligence, humility and obedience to institutional values, while emphasising faith as a guiding principle for success.
“Seek God first and allow His guidance to shape your decisions. Academic success is not accidental; it is the product of diligence, consistency and hard work,” the Vice-Chancellor counselled.
The newly admitted students were drawn from the university’s nine colleges: the College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences (CASMAS), College of Education (COLED), College of Law (COLAW), College of Health Sciences (COHEALTHS), College of Pure and Applied Sciences (COPAS), College of Environmental Sciences and Management (COLENSMA), College of Communication and Media Studies (COCIMS), College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS), and the College of Postgraduate Studies (COPGS).
The ceremony featured the formal presentation of the students by college officers, administration of the Matriculation Oath and signing of the Matriculation Register, thereby conferring full studentship status on the entrants.
The Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Mayokun Olumeru, said the record enrolment reflected sustained public confidence in the university’s academic standards and governance structure.
“The continued interest shown by parents and students affirms the integrity of our admission processes and management’s unwavering commitment to quality education anchored on godliness,” he stated.
Earlier in the day, the Christmas Carol Service transformed the Convocation Arena into a centre of worship and celebration, with choral renditions, festive performances and moments of spiritual reflection adding warmth to the academic occasion.
Parents and guardians in attendance commended the university’s serene learning environment, strong moral foundation and consistency in nurturing students into responsible global citizens.
Caleb University’s growing reputation has also been reinforced by recent approvals from the National Universities Commission (NUC), including full re-accreditation and accreditation of several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
In a statement, the Information, Media and Publication Specialist, Mr. Olawale Adekoya, said the successful hosting of both events on the same day underscored the institution’s confidence and maturity.
“At Caleb University, matriculation guides students at the start of their academic journey, while the Christmas Carol reinforces our values of faith, gratitude and community spirit,” he said.
