A fifty years old woman identified as Furera Ibrahim has been beaten to death over alleged witchcraft in Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
An eyewitness told DAILY POST that the incident happened on Tuesday at Kwarin Shiddi, Katuka Village in Kiyawa around 5:00 pm when a group of family members attacked the deceased.
“Relatives of one Habiba who has been on sick bed visited a native doctor for medication and he mentioned the deceased (Furera) as a witch who is responsible for the problem.
“The natives about ten in number stormed her house and attacked her with machete and sticks.
“Two of her sons was also attacked and injured while attempting to prevent them from killing their mother,” the eyewitness said.
He said the victims were admitted at Shekoni Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
Police spokesman SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident, saying the case is still under investigation.
The Jigawa State Human Rights Network said it will follow up the case until the perpetrators are brought to justice.
