The Oluwanishola Village community in Gbalefa land, Atan, Ogun State, has petitioned the Ogun State Government over alleged forgery of land documents, harassment of villagers, and activities described as threats to public peace. The petition, addressed to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also accuses a traditional ruler, HRH Oba Adewunmi Adeniji, the Onibudo of Aiyetoro-Budo, of acting in connivance with a land developer to illegally take over communal land.
In the petition dated December 3, 2025, solicitors from FBS Attorneys and Solicitors, acting on behalf of the Baale of Oluwanishola Village, Chief Folorunsho Soetan, the community youth leader, Mr. Jimi Adebari, and other residents, alleged that the monarch has been serving as the “company secretary” to Nurabam Global Services, a firm owned by Mr. Nurudeen Araba, who they described as a renowned land grabber.
According to the petition, Oba Adeniji allegedly witnessed and supported a forged Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) purportedly executed in 2013, which the community claims was used to backdate ownership claims over their ancestral land.
The document, the petition states, was admitted in court during a land dispute marked Suit No. HCT/477/2019, where defendants reportedly acknowledged the forgery in their statement of defence.
The petition cites Paragraph 12 of the defendants’ joint statement of defence, where Nurabam Global Services admitted to “forging a formal contractual relationship” with certain families and communities. Similarly, a written deposition by Mr. Araba allegedly confirmed that he “forged contractual work relationship” through the disputed instruments.
The community alleges that the forged MoU was used by the company—alongside the involvement of the monarch—to unlawfully take over portions of Abule Tisa village and surrounding areas. The solicitors claimed the defendants initially presented themselves as protectors against land grabbers but later betrayed the community after being disengaged for allegedly fraudulent conduct.
Residents of the village reportedly now live in fear, as the petition alleges that thugs linked to Nurabam Global Services have been stationed around the community “with proliferation of arms,” creating palpable tension and threatening public safety.
“Our clients have witnessed increasing harassment, intimidation, and a breakdown of public peace,” the petition reads, warning that lives in the village “are no longer safe” due to the activities of the alleged land grabbers.
The petitioners appealed to the Commissioner and the Egba Traditional Council to urgently call the monarch to order to avert “communal crisis and bloodshed.”
Copies of the petition were also forwarded to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and the Attorney General of Ogun State.
Neither Nurabam Global Services nor the Onibudo had issued a public response at the time of filing this report.
