The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 65-year-old woman who fell into a well at Gafiyawa town, near the Mamuda Group of Company in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

According to a statement signed by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Emergency Response Unit received a distress call on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from one Ibrahim Sani Hausawa, who reported the incident.

Fire Service personnel immediately mobilised to the scene, where they discovered that the victim, identified as Khadija Muhammad, had fallen into the well.

Relatives at the location disclosed that she lives with a mental health condition.

Through what the agency described as “God’s intervention” and the swift efforts of the rescue team, the woman was safely retrieved from the well and handed over to her brother, Malam Ibrahim Dahiru.

The Director of the Kano State Fire Service urged residents and property owners to secure wells within their premises by raising the surrounding walls and installing metal covers.

He emphasised that such safety measures are essential to prevent similar incidents involving both people and animals.

The agency thanked the public for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to responding promptly to emergencies..
