Ogun Monarch, Olu Wasinmi calls for unity, charts new paths for peace, development

The Olu of Wasinmi, a town in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State Oba Suffianu Adisa Jolaosho has urged sons and daughters of the town to plough back to their homestead, as this is the only heritage they can hold claim.

Oba Jolaoso who made these remarks during activities to mark his 2nd anniversary on the throne, said that the community members have a major role to play in the development of the town, as the state government cannot do it alone.

He called on the sons and daughters of the community to participate actively in the development of the ancient town by establishing cottage, small and medium and large industries to service the manufacturing companies in the town

Oba Jolaoso also called on the indigenes to renovate and convert their family houses to more befitting edifices, saying “We really need you to come home and be part of the development that is ongoing in wasinmi,” the monarch said.

Oba Jolaosho reiterated the urgent need to cement peace and unity within the community, stressing that these are the bedrock of development.

He said, “Celebrating his 730 days as the Olu Of Wasinmi is a move set to reshape the traditional council’s structure, he emphasized his intention to expand his cabinet, with a particular focus on the youth and woman development. This move is seen as an effort to integrate younger voices and ensure gender representation in the community”.

He urged all community members to throw their weight behind All Progressive Congress (APC) governments of Hon. Sikiru Adisa Adesina, executive chairman of Ewekoro Local Government,
Rt. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Member federal House of representatives, representing Ifo Ewekoro Federal constituency, Senator Salisu Afolabi, Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District. Prince Dapo Abiodun, Executive governor of Ogun State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He specifically extolled Governor Abiodun’s vision for the transformation and developmental works going on in Ewekoro Local Government by driving investors to the local government.

He noted that the Governor’s decision to route the company through the Akinale, Elekuro and Wasinmi community would be a significant economic game-changer, bringing jobs and prosperity to the area.

While commending the efforts of the people of Wasinmi town for the development, he described the last two years as “outstanding with visible achievements.”

The occasion was also used to confer chieftaincy titles on some eminent sons and daughters of Wasinmi.

On how he has been able to maintain peace in the town, the monarch said it had been solely possible by “The grace of God, because the non-indigenes are more than the indigenes of the town. In the whole of Yorubaland, Wasinmi is the town that hosts all Nigerians and even foreigners.”

He disclosed that in the last two years, the security of the town has been uplifted with constant support for security agencies.

The kabiyesi also disclosed that aside from the ultra-modern palace, the roads in the town have also witnessed a facelift.

A highlight of the ceremony was the installation of new chiefs including Chief Adebowale Kehinde Monday, Aare of Wasinmi Land, Chief Sowunmi Micheal Abolade, Bobagunwa of Wasinmi. Chief Onigbinde Jelili Akanni Adeoye as Gbobaniyi of Wasinmi land.
Chief Malomo Ishola Tajudeen As Otun Babaloja of Wasinmi Land. Chief. Dr. Freeman Olamide Osonuga as Asiwaju Baaloro of Wasinmi Land. Pharmacist Chief Mrs. Damilola Osonuga as Yeye Baaloro of Wasinmi Land and others

The event drew a host of prominent figures from religious, business, and cultural sectors, a signal to the monarch’s wide influence. The celebration concluded with cultural performances, solidifying two years of traditional leadership and setting an ambitious agenda for the future of Wasinmi Town and his environs.
