The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted the claim of signature forgery alleged by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, stated this while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday.
He spoke in reaction to Anyanwu’s claim that his signature was forged in the letters sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) informing it of the date, time, and venue for the November 15 and 16 elective convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
But Ologunagba maintained that the national secretary signed the letters.
The publicity secretary also presented communications between Anyanwu and the other members of the party’s leadership, as well as his engagement with members of the contact and mobilisation committee, where he served as the secretary.
Anyanwu had submitted a petition to the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector General of Police, alleging that his signature was forged.
In three separate letters dated October 15, 2025, Anyanwu raised an alarm over a letter purportedly addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commisison (INEC).
The PDP national secretary claimed that the letters, which contained details about the party’s national convention slated for November 15, bore his forged signature and were sent to INEC without his knowledge or authorisation.
“Regrettably, the quoted letter was never signed, authorised or known to me. It is shocking to have a forged or cloned version of my signature on the letter,” Anyanwu wrote.
Anyanwu urged the INEC chairman, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the matter and prosecute those responsible.
‘Anyanwu Signed The Letters’
Speaking at the press conference on Monday in Abuja, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said Anyanwu signed several official documents, including the letter notifying INEC of the party’s convention.
Ologunagba said the letters were signed only a few hours before the party’s 102nd national executive committee (NEC) meeting on August 25, 2025.
He noted that the documents were signed in the presence of several prominent party leaders, including Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa; Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
Ologunagba added that during the NEC meeting, Mohammed, who heads the PDP Governors’ Forum, confirmed that all necessary letters — particularly the one sent to INEC — had been properly signed.
“We are a law and order party; we follow due process. We have presented you with the fact. You can verify,” he said.
