Falling tree kills one, injures seven in Benue community

Tragedy struck at Ngimbo, Mbadam Mbatierev, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State when a tree fell and k!lled a man identified as Chiahemba Tarpav.

The incident, which occurred around 3:pm on Friday, 19 September 2025 during a thunderstorm, also left seven other persons injured.

The injured victims are currently receiving medical attention at a hospital.

The immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, paid a condolence visit to the families of the victims of Saturday.

During his condolence visit, Dajoh settled the medical bills of those hospitalized and pledged to assist the family with funeral arrangements for the late Mr. Chiahemba.

Describing the tragedy as “unfortunate and deeply saddening,” Dajoh urged the victims and their families to remain steadfast in faith and find solace in God during this period of grief.

Speaking through his Personal Assistant, Mr. Terkuma Jiki, the former Speaker reiterated his commitment to standing by his constituents in moments of distress.
