Yobe Hisbah board shuts down brothels, liquor joints in fresh raid

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has shutdown several brothels and liquor joints in Bursari local government area in an operation it conducted.

This is contained in a statement signed the by Commission’s Media Assistant, Sibawaihi Ukasha Gashua, which indicated that the operation follows a raid conducted on Sunday, 17th August 2025.

“Acting on legal approval granted by Judge Aliyu Hukuma of the Lower Shari’ah Court, Garin Alkali, the Commission, through its legal representative Barr. Bashehu Madu, sought and obtained a court order to seal all identified premises involved in immoral and illegal activities.

“The establishments closed include: Uzoma Lodge, Benji, Laraba, Godiya, Helin, Nasara Lodge, Naso Lodge, among others”, he said.

According to the Media Assistant the operation was carried out under the leadership of Sheikh Isa Ibrahim Gashua, Deputy State Commandant, Zone C, in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other Hisbah officials.

The Commission commended the judiciary for its swift response and appreciated the support of the Yobe State Government, for its unwavering commitment to promoting moral values and public safety.

The Commission also called on residents of Garin Alkali and neighboring communities to continue supporting efforts to instill discipline, protect public morality, and ensure the spiritual and social wellbeing of the populace.
