This came as the state governor, Francis Nwifuru also made increment of twenty thousand (20,000) across board to earlier seventy thousand naira monthly salaries of state civil servants.

The commissioner however noted that the state would put modalities in place to charge and punish any woman reported of having violated the right of any man across the 13 local government areas of the state.

Omebeh stated that the move was to correct the prevailing narrative which often gives rights only to females as the victims of gender violence.

According to him, “this is to correct the prevailing narrative which often focuses on women as the only victims of gender violence, while men are overlooked in some cases as victims themselves in similar context.

“This among other things were major issues deliberated at this week state executive council meeting and this is aimed at fostering a holistic and sustainable approach towards eradicating gender-Based Violence in the state. So from today if you are violated by any woman, speak out.

“Another thing reached at this week state executive council meeting and secured the approval of the state governor is the increment of twenty thousand naira to the monthly salaries of civil servants in the state. The increment is across board.

With this, Salient Times reports that the minimum wage of civil servants in Ebonyi has now risen to 90,000 monthly.
