The wife of the Federal House of Representatives Member for Ikwo/Ezza South Constituency, Chief Mrs. Mary Chinedu Ogah (Oso di eme), has distributed items worth millions of Naira to women in Ebonyi State.

The empowerment program was part of the 2025 August Meeting of the Ikwo/Ezza South Constituency, held at Blessed Martin’s International School of Science and Technology, Ohatekwe Amagu, Ikwo Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists, Mrs. Ogah urged mothers and married women to promote peace, love, and unity in their families through strict faithfulness to their spouses. She commended the First Lady of Ebonyi State, Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Maudlin Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru (Ogbanku), for her exemplary leadership in advancing women’s inclusiveness in governance.

Mrs. Ogah further applauded the First Lady’s foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO), for its consistent efforts in reaching out to elderly women and the less privileged.

“This Federal Constituency August Meeting is an annual event that brings together women from Ikwo and Ezza South. This year, we focused on faithfulness as a virtue. Different companies partnered with us to enlighten women on issues they may ordinarily not know because of limited educational opportunities. We are giving back to society what God has given us—education and awareness—by teaching women how to carry themselves in their homes and communities,” Mrs. Ogah stated.

She emphasized that a faithful woman embodies self-reliance, obedience, peace, tolerance, and commitment to God’s grace. Such values, she said, empower women to train their children effectively, noting that “to train a woman is to train a nation.”

Highlighting the importance of harmony in homes, Mrs. Ogah called for peaceful collaboration between husbands and wives to curb domestic violence. She stressed that women are the pillars of every family and must always give their best.

The event featured several activities, including medical outreach, recognition awards, a cooking competition sponsored by Honeywell, cultural displays, dance contests, and the distribution of bags of rice, onions, and other items to women.

Dignitaries present included: the wife of the Ebonyi State Governor (represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Felicia Nwamkpuma), the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Grace Umezuruike, Ezza South Local Government Chairman Hon. Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, wife of the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Mrs. Flora Ije Odunwa, Vice Chairman of Ikwo LGA Hon. Mrs. Chinasa Itumo, Chief Mrs. Lilian Nwankwo, Commissioner for Education Dr. Ilang Donatus, coordinators of women’s groups such as Adaikukuoma Women, Ebonyi Women in Mining, Unwada Ikwo Noyo, Women in Politics, She Grows Her Food/AMCIN, and several other stakeholders.
