Confirming the incident, the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement, TRACE, spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, told Newsmen that the rescue operation was carried out by officers of Papalanto Division and the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

Akinbiyi ascribed the cause of the crash to tyre burst and loss of control which caused the vehicle to summersault.

“Number of death, 6. Two male adults, two female adults, one child and one female child. The driver of the vehicle was also among the dead victims while the motor boy was injured.”

According to the TRACE spokesperson, the injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Ifo, for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

Meanwhile, the acting Head of TRACE, Omonayajo Elias, commiserated with the families of the deceased, advising drivers to exercise caution while driving and warned against the use of fake and expired tyres because of its attendant consequences.
