Renowned elder statesman, human rights defender, and philanthropist, Otunba Ephraim Lana Akintan, has celebrated his 96th birthday with gratitude and heartfelt prayers for his exceptional mentees who have over the years chosen philanthropy as a way of life.

At the modest but symbolic celebration held at his Oja-Odan residence, Otunba Akintan offered special prayers for the Chairman IBD IMPEX LTD, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD Dende), respected business mogul, community leader and philanthropist; Alhaji Azeez Sanni (Zolakaz), notable generous and business czars; Mr Paul Amosun (Paul Pobe) and Mr Femi Akanbi (Prezoab), as well as PMAN and Road Users of Oja-Odan branch respectively.

Baba Lana as fondly called urged the religious leaders in the audience to commit His Royal Majesty, Oloja of Oja-Odan, Oba (Engr) Oyebanji Adetunji Olowobese and the entire residents of Oja-Odan town into the caring hands of God Almighty, as he beseeched the merciful God to continue to grant the humble and loving Monarch the wisdom and every good thing needed to govern aright.

Requesting the Clerics to do the Special Prayer marking his 96th birthday on Monday, 18th August, 2025, Otunba Akintan remarked that, the gesture was his way of acknowledging the generosity, kindness, and service to humanity that these men have consistently demonstrated in their personal and public lives.

“At 96, my joy is that both my biological and adopted children, whom I regard as my mentees have chosen to use their blessings to touch the lives of others.

“It is no more news that Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun—patriotic Nigerian—is a living icon of philanthropy and kindness”.

“Mr Paul Amosun (Paul Pobe), Alhaji Azeez Sanni, and Mr. Femi Akanbi have all shown what it means to give back to society.

“Their lifestyles have become my source of joy, seeing them giving succor to the underprivileged. May God continue to strengthen them,” Otunba Akintan prayed.

Known across Nigeria for his unyielding defense of human rights and philanthropy, Otunba Akintan’s milestone but low-key birthday was also an opportunity for family, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate his enduring legacy.
