..As Government rakes in over N165.87 billions revenue in 3 months

The Bayelsa State Government has assured of its commitment to the completion of ongoing projects embarked by the Prosperity Administration before the end of its tenure.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mrs. Kuko Obiyai in Yenagoa during the transparency briefing for the Month of May, June and July, 2025.
Obiyai highlighted the administration’s commitment to public accountability and transparency, citing it as a cornerstone of Governor Douye Diri’s Leadership.
She outlined the state’s ongoing projects, including the nine-storey Secretariat buildings, international-standard FIFA stadium, Nembe-Brass road, Yenagoa-Oporoma road, and Ekeremor-Agge road and assured that the government is committed to completing these projects, having planned and budgeted for them.
Mrs. Obiyai appealed to the media to promote the administration’s programs and policies, emphasizing the need for balanced reporting, urging journalists to investigate thoroughly and avoid spreading unsubstantiated claims, particularly during the electioneering season.
The commissioner expressed gratitude for the media’s role in disseminating information to the public and encouraged them to practice developmental journalism and emphasized the importance of protecting the state’s good name and celebrating its achievements.
She highlighted the need for collaboration between the government and media to promote Bayelsa’s progress.
Mrs. Obiyai urged citizens to discourage rumor-mongering and instead focus on celebrating the state’s achievements, emphasizing that the media and government must work together to promote the state’s image and progress, with a shared goal of building a prosperous Bayelsa.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Treasury and Account, Mr.Timipre Seipolo, has disclosed that the state raked in a balance of approximately N165.87 billion in its coffers as of July 2025.
Seipolo said the state’s monthly income and expenditure for May stood at N167.28 billion after deducting a deficit of N7.2 billion from the April carried-forward balance of N174.48 billion.
He noted that the state’s receipts after FAAC for June totaled N85 billion, with a net balance of N66.05 billion before recurrent and capital payments. After deducting N41.82 billion for these payments, a balance of N24.23 billion remained.
He added that adding the N24.23 billion balance for June to the closing balance of N167.82 billion for May resulted in a total of approximately N191.52 billion carried forward to July.
