Ogun: Ikolaje-Idiroko to Host Grand Tribute, Farewell Ceremony for Late Oba John Olakunle Ojo

The Ikolaje-Idiroko Kingdom, a border town in Ogun State, in collaboration with community leaders and traditional institutions, is set to host a four-day Tribute and Farewell Ceremony in honor of the late Oba John Olakunle Ojo JP (Afiditi II), the revered Oniko of Ikolaje-Idiroko Land, who joined his ancestors recently.

The solemn and dignified event will celebrate the life and legacy of a monarch whose reign spanned decades, leaving a lasting impact on the cultural, social, and economic development of the Nigeria–Benin border region.

In a statement signed by Mr. Olusola Ibirinde, Chairman Publicity Committee for the event, said the ceremony, scheduled to take place from November 12 to 15, 2025, is themed “Honouring the Ancient Crown: Its Sacred Place in Yoruba Culture and Heritage”

Oba John Olakunle Ojo JP was widely known for his wisdom, humility, and diplomatic leadership.

He served as a symbol of peace and unity, strengthening cross-border relations and championing traditional leadership within modern governance.

This commemorative event is expected to bring together dignitaries from Nigeria and neighboring countries, including traditional rulers, government representatives, religious leaders, cultural ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic community.

The program will feature a range of activities designed to honor the monarch’s life and service:
