A frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Ijebu-East, Ijebu-North, and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo, has declared that the 2027 Ogun State governorship is non-negotiable for Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Osinowo, a native of Ijebu-Igbo and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), affirmed that Yayi is the most qualified candidate to lead Ogun State after Governor Dapo Abiodun’s tenure ends.

Adding that Senator Adeola’s candidacy is not just a political aspiration, it is a divine call to serve the good people of Ogun State, Osinowo said.

According to him, it is the turn of the Yewa region to produce the next governor, and Senator Solomon Adeola stands head and shoulders above other aspirants from the zone. He praised the senator’s extensive political influence across the South-West, citing his consistent and impactful track record.

“I admire Senator Adeola because of his selfless and visionary approach to politics. He exemplifies true leadership. He did wonders in Lagos, and I’m glad he’s back home to replicate the same success here in Ogun.

“I was a pioneer member of the Yayi group in my constituency. At our ward meetings, we had a slogan; ‘Yayi ni Jenriyi joo’. Unfortunately, due to irreconcilable political differences with the then-governor, the dream didn’t materialize at the time,” he noted.

Describing Yayi as a committed public servant, Osinowo highlighted his progressive journey through the ranks from the Lagos State House of Assembly, to the House of Representatives, then two terms in the Senate representing Lagos West, and currently the senator for Ogun West.

“It’s rare in Nigerian politics for one individual to be elected consistently across different states and levels. That speaks volumes about his credibility, and it’s only natural that the next step is the governorship,” he asserted.

Osinowo, known as ‘Otunba Imole’ in Ogun’s political landscape is a development and economic expert. He previously contested under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2019 and later under the APC in 2023. He has now declared his intention to contest in the forthcoming 2027 elections for the House of Representatives seat.

On his ambition, Osinowo emphasised the importance of continuity and development for his constituency.

“A nation without history is lost. My past contributions are visible, and I’m committed to doing even more. The Ijebu-East, North and Ogun Waterside federal constituency deserves the best representation, especially in this age of rapid technological advancement,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming his support for Yayi’s gubernatorial bid and called on the people of Ogun State to rally behind them both.

“Senator Adeola has a remarkable political record, unbroken success from the House of Assembly to the Senate. It’s a testament to his impact and leadership. Ogun State is ready for him, and I am also ready to serve my people once again,” Osinowo said.
