Ogun College Of Nursing Commences Screening For Applicants

The Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences has commenced its screening process for prospective students through a Computer Based Test (CBT) for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Oral Interview at the Idi-Aba, Abeokuta Campus.

‎ Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Kayode Oladehinde, made this known at the screening exercise in Abeokuta to mark a significant step in the selection of qualified candidates into the Institution’s next academic session.

‎ Dr. Oladehinde disclosed that following a rigorous and transparent selection process, 360 students would be admitted into the 3 campuses including Abeokuta, Ilaro and Ijebu-Ode with 120 candidates per campus.

‎ He emphasised that the CBT and Oral interview were aimed at ensuring that only qualified candidates were selected into the nursing programme, saying this aligned with the State’s commitment to raising the standard of healthcare delivery.

‎ The Permanent Secretary appreciated the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his unwavering support in the development of healthcare education in the State, while also commending the Commissioner for Health Dr. Tomi Coker for her tireless efforts at improving health sector policies and infrastructure, especially in the area of training health officers.

‎ Speaking, Provost of Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences Dr. Jeminat Sodimu, charged the applicants to be well prepared, determined and be focused, saying that nursing was beyond uniform and moving out of the country, but requires passion and empathy.

‎ Some of the applicants, in their separate remarks, Segun Taiwo and Esther Ogbeinde, expressed satisfaction with the process, saying it is their passion to become nurses and they’re ready to give all it takes.
