They described the swift response of Governor Douye Diri as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to peace, effective governance, and community stability.

Speaking separately with Salient Times News in Yenagoa and Port Harcourt over the weekend, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Ikebiri Development Foundation (IDF) and General Superintendent of Kingdom Grace Mission Inc., Yenagoa, Apostle Dr. Kiyaramo G. Timiebi, praised the governor’s proactive stance, saying it reflects leadership that is responsive and sensitive to grassroots concerns.

Apostle Timiebi emphasized that:

“Peaceful communities are more attractive to investors, organizations, and government agencies. This in turn brings development opportunities such as infrastructure, social programs, and funding for community projects.”

He further commended the nullification of the suspension of the paramount ruler, His Royal Highness, Ododo Francis Timi (Ike VIII), and the constitution of a 12-member panel of inquiry chaired by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo.

“This move is a major step toward addressing both the immediate and underlying causes of the dispute,” he said, expressing the foundation’s confidence in the panel’s ability to resolve the matter.

Apostle Timiebi urged leaders and stakeholders across the Ikebiri communities to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence, stating that:

“A peaceful environment empowers people to take ownership of their future and build lasting legacies.”

Also speaking, a member of the IDF, Pastor Jonathan Ayawei, hailed the role of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, in mediating between the parties, urging all sides to sheath their swords and embrace reconciliation for the overall good of the kingdom.

“Let us seek unity, forgiveness, and peace for the development of our people,” Pastor Ayawei appealed.

He added that peaceful coexistence fosters a sense of shared purpose, strengthens social ties, and reduces tensions that often derail development efforts.

In his remarks, Engineer Cornelius Timighe, a retired senior manager with Total Energies and board member of IDF, stressed the importance of community-government collaboration. He noted that:

“Peaceful coexistence allows communities to harness diverse talents and expertise, leading to innovative solutions and more effective developmental outcomes.”

Retired Permanent Secretary and IDF board member, Mrs. Violet Mama, also highlighted the role of peace in attracting sustainable investments and implementing long-term initiatives.

“Only in a stable and harmonious atmosphere can economic growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability be achieved,” she said.

She concluded by stating that peace not only enhances economic opportunities but also the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of community members.
