A prominent Niger Delta ex-agitator, General Endurance Amagbein, has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Mr. Goodnews Manash, the CDC chairman of Igbomotoru Community, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
In a statement, Amagbein expressed deep shock and sadness over the incident, describing the killing as needless and senseless.
He lamented the continued reign of terror unleashed by unscrupulous elements in the community and urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Amagbein also called on the indigenes of Igbomotoru Community to cooperate with security forces and assist in the investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome killing.
He said, “The killing of innocent souls of the community by unscrupulous elements under government forces is needless.”
“These same criminal elements have continued to unleash terror in the community through their agents which they have armed with dangerous weapons to do their biddings whenever they desire.”
“We are yet to recover from the outcome of the siege mounted in Igbomotoru leading to the brazen killing of over 50 persons in the community on the 27th of March, 2024, and while this development has left the area volatile with stakeholders confused on what to do, we are greeted with this commando style of killing.”
“I am pained by the killing of the CDC chairman and I mourn his death as a kinsman because he was full of life and showed interest in the peace and development of the community,” he added.
