The driver and other occupants of the lorry, who were afraid of the outcome of the accident, escaped from the scene, leaving the lorry’s key in the ignition box.

The tricycle rider, Mr. David Barile, was the worst affected victim as he was rushed to a nearby pharmacy where he was given a first aid treatment, while the three passengers were left unscathed after their rescue from the mangled tricycle.

One of the occupants disclosed to Salient Times News on the scene, that before their accident, their rider noticed a tricycle accident ahead of him and decided to slow down to enable a woman, who was knocked down and the tricycle rider moved out of the way.

He said it was at that instant that they heard the screeching of the lorry and immediately felt its impact as they were violently hurled forward and the tricycle in which they were traveling crumbled upon them.

Officers from the State Traffic Motor Department arrived at the scene to take over the matter and arrested one of the lorry’s occupants who sneaked into the lorry to get the keys of the lorry and his slippers.

Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) also arrived the scene to ensure the smooth flow of traffic around the scene while a towing truck was awaited to evacuate the accidented vehicles.
