The Ogun State Commissioner for Housing, Jamiu Akande Omoniyi, has congratulated former House of Reps member, Kayode Oladele, on his appointment as the Acting Chairman, Federal Character Commission (FCC).

Omoniyi described the appointment as timely and profoundly strategic, especially at the present defining moment of the democratic journey of the nation.

The Housing Commissioner, in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, acknowledged that the appointment reflected the impressive profile of Oladele as a seasoned legal practitioner, human rights advocate, anti-corruption crusader, and former federal lawmaker, which makes him the perfect fit to steer the FCC towards national balance, equity, and socio-political stability.

While noting that the latest appointment is another win for the Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Omoniyi expressed that “it was not only meritorious but symbolic of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration’s renewed commitment to competence, integrity, and inclusion in public administration”.

The statement added: “This appointment could not have come at a better time. Honourable Kayode Oladele is a cerebral and courageous patriot whose unblemished records in public service speak for itself. We in Ogun State, and particularly Yewaland, are extremely proud of this honour”.

He further described Oladele as a man of deep intellect and uncommon foresight, who has consistently championed democratic ideals, justice, and institutional reforms both in Nigeria and on the international scene.

He noted that his sterling performance in his previous national assignments, including Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Crimes, have demonstrated his grasp of governance, accountability, and national equity, qualities essential to the strategic repositioning of the FCC.

“The FCC is central to our collective peace and economic stability; it helps to correct historical imbalances and promoting trust among diverse groups. In Honourable Oladele, the nation has found not just a leader, but a reformer who will advance the Commission’s constitutional mandate with fairness, boldness, and transformative insight,” the Commissioner pointed out.

While expressing confidence that the tenure of Oladele as the FCC chairman would be marked by institutional renewal, policy clarity, and progressive national dialogue, Omoniyi submitted that “the appointment is not only a victory for the people of Yewa-Awori and Ogun West, but also a strong hope for every Nigerian who believes in hard work, excellence, and merit-driven service”.
