President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would today commission the completed section of Phase I, Section I (30 km of 750 km) Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway while others would be done through virtual.

These were New Bridge of 3 Span Single Carriageway at Akpoha in Afikpo federal highway in Ebonyi State, 61 km Enugu – Port Harcourt Expressway, Section III in Enugu–Lokpanta federal highway axis in Enugu State.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday evening by the minister for works, Sen. David Umahi and was made available to Salient Times through the Special Adviser to the minister, Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji.

Also in the list to be commissioned were: Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road Corridor (Phase 1 Section 1: Ahmadu Bello to Eleko Village Area in Lekki Peninsula of 30Km, dualization of East-West Road Section II (Sub Section I) Eleme Junction in Port Harcourt – Ahoada in Rivers State of 94KM.

“Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Expansion Works on Lagos-Ibadan Dual Carriageway, Phase 1, Section II, (Shagamu-Ibadan), in Ogun and Oyo States of 166.8KM

“Rehabilitation of Alesi – Ugep (Iyamoyung-Ugep) Section in Cross River State of 67.1km,
reconstruction of Collapsed Enugu Bridge at New Artisan Market Enugu – Portharcourt Road in Enugu State 3-Span, Dual Bridge, Rehabilitation of Ikorodu – Shagamu Road in Lagos/Ogun States of 30.4km

“Upgrading of 15km Section of the East-West Road from PH(Eleme Juction)- Onne Port Junction in River State, 15km, Rehabilitation and Expansion of Lagos – Badagry Expressway Agbara Junction – Nigeria/Benin Border in Lagos of 24.30km x 2,” the statement read in parts.

However other projects such as the Ibadan Ife-Ilesha-Akure-Benin road in Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Edo States, construction of Nembe – Brass Road, construction of a section of Enugu & Onitsha Carriageway of 107 km total length and Abakpa flyover in Enugu State. Would be flag-off by Mr. President.

Salient Times learnt that the Calabar Coastal Highway which is among the legacy projects of Mr. President was aimed at fostering regional integration, social cohesion, and stimulate inclusive development.
